About

I have had an interest in photography and nature my whole life. My dad was an avid photographer and as a kid my siblings an I all had box brownies. I was upgraded to a Kodak Instamatic which I killed in 1977 when it dropped into seawater while wading around the mudflats near Amity, North Stradbroke Island, Queensland.

In 1980, I bought a Nikonos III, mainly for underwater use, but it was a very robust land camera, too. In 1983, I bought my first SLR, a Ricoh KR10. This was replaced with newer SLRs, a Pentax LX in 1985 and Nikon FE2 later in 1985 and finally a Nikon 801s in 1991.

I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix 950 in 2000. This was replaced by a Coolpix 4500 in 2003 and I also bought an Ikelite housing for it, finally retiring the Nikonos III.

In 2005, I bought my first digital SLR, a Nikon D70 and this was replaced by a Nikon D300 in December 2007.

Most of my photography is of natural subjects, both above and below the water.
